The world lost a good man yesterday. Al and his wife "adopted" my family several years ago because they knew we didn't have any relatives nearby. They became our adopted grandparents and have been exactly that to us. I am grateful for the time i had with Al and for the wonderful example he set for me to be positive and encouraging to those around me. He will be missed.

That's right. I managed to suck it up enough to set foot in the gym again. What was the push i needed to get back in there? Having Emma ask me if i was still going to the gym and having absolutely no good excuse for why i wasn't...

Now all i have to do is keep going.

SAT, PSAT, SAT, PSAT (anyone from CHS gets that, right?)

I got an email a few months ago about being an SAT essay readers, because they want teachers, and decided to fill out the application and see what happened. I completely forgot about it until I got another email telling me they'd be doing phone interviews within the next month once they made it through the applications and narrowed it down the first time. Well, i made it through (yay!) and spent about 5 minutes on the phone doing an interview. Honestly, there was almost nothing to it other than answering a question about "a time when i had to adhere to standards i did not agree with" which took me a minute to come up with an answer to. Overall i think i did well. We'll see if i can stand up to the other teachers they're interviewing and here from them again towards the end of the summer. Honestly, i think it'd be fun to do since i have always enjoyed reading and editing students' work, which is what i got to do when i worked as an editor at the Academic Support Center in college. This would be a similar experience and be something i could do on top of teaching. We'll see what happens!

And last Friday Andy and i went to the IMA to watch Roman Holiday on their outdoor screen. It has Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in it. It couldn't be more perfect...
While we'd both seen parts of it, neither of us had seen it all the way through and it was SO GOOD! I will definitely be watching it again!

The summer of weddings

You know how people always say that there's that one year where everyone you know gets married? Well this seems to be the year for Andrew and I. We are invited to five weddings, not including our own. That's a lot of weddings. Hopefully we'll be able to make them it to all of them because all of the people are important to us.

It will be interesting because all of the weddings we're invited to are before our wedding, which means we can see how they did different parts of the wedding and borrow their ideas. Besides that, that means we get to eat a lot of wedding cake. Mmm!

How did i do with my goals for the past week?

Well, i didn't manage to work out every day, but i did work out four times, which is more than i was doing last month. I'm definitely doing better at motivating myself, so hopefully this week will work out with

The new recipes i tried out were AWESOME!!! We cooked all three of them and will definitely be making them again. My favorite of the three was definitely the beef and portobello minestroganoff (can you tell it's a Rachel Ray recipe with the cutesy, wootsey name?), but Andy liked both the strawberry chicken club and the spinach and ricotta pasta. This week i'll be making more of the spinach and ricotta pasta because we have enough ingredients to make another batch and trying out at least two new recipes. My plan is to pick out recipes that will work for a picnic because on Friday we're going to the IMA to see Roman Holiday! I'm SO excited because seeing a movie at the IMA has been one of the things that i've been wanting to do forever. Yay!

I also finished two books and am almost done with the cowl i've been knitting forever. So i'm working my way through my list of things i wanted to accomplish this summer;) Sorry if all of this isn't as interesting to you as it is to me. I feel much more accomplished when i list the things i've done instead of just knowing i've done them.
